The Mallards
played against Whickham Seniors today. as the saying going all good things come
to those who wait. Well all I can say is that the Mallards waited a long long
time to put one over the Whickham boys. well played.
Photos taken during the two matches have been added.

14 teams took
part in today's 4BBB stableford competition. Played in cool windy conditions some good scores
were returned. Gordon White & Sandy Thorburn with 45 points
took top spot. Runners up were Francis Fitzpatrick & Mike Dunham with 43 points.
Thursday 9th August 2007.
An easy day for the Mallards committee, even though the Mallards played a
competitive game today it was actually a men's section competition. The 'Frank
Walker Trophy', which is open to all club members aged 55 and over. A few
years back in order to gain increased support the men's committee realised that
most members of the age group playing regular competitive golf played on a
Monday or Thursday so the competition was moved to a Thursday. On leaving the
club today 41 members had taken part and Ian Melrose with 42 points was leading
the competition. The result will be posted on How Did I Do

An
interesting days golf. The very early starters suffered some very heavy showers,
the later starters getting the better of the weather, but the weather did not
deter some members returning excellent scores. today was the first round of the
Ralph Ramsden Trophy and David Dalglish, an early starter, returned the best
score of the day with a net 66. It was David's first win of the season and first
points on the order of merit. Robert Waite was today's runner up with a net 67,
The only 2 of the day being recorded by Derek Smith
You are reminded, it is the Prontoprint Trophy on
Saturday, open to members of all categories, so any member of the Mallards
entering please represent the Mallards
Thursday 16th August 2007
36 members
played in today's medal which was also the second round of the Ralph Ramsden
trophy. Overall winner today was Ian Melrose with a net 70, runner up was Sandy
Thorburn with a net 71, There were no 2's today.
With a net 66 on Monday and a net 71 today, a total of 137, David Dalglish
was the winner of the Ralph Ramsden Trophy. So congratulations to David

At last a
rain free round of golf but windy. The members played the monthly 'Eclectic'
medal today with a couple of excellent scores recorded by Roger Rees and Alan
Best. Roger with a net 69 took first place on a card play off from Alan. Graham
Orange recorded the only 2 of the day, seemingly he chipped in on the 13th, but
a 2 is a 2

Well summer
arrived at last, late but a great day for golf. Having played 5 medal
competition on the trot it was a relief for some to play a stableford today. Yet
again Roger Rees played some excellent golf and returned a good 40 points, and
for Roger he achieved his seasons ambition of getting his handicap down to 5 he
is now a category 1 player, well done Roger. Runner up today was Tom Gordon with
37 points. There were no 2's today
Thursday 30th August 2007
A week has
gone by since the last Mallards competition, it seems such a long time ago. In
cool but pleasant conditions 31 members played in today's medal competition.
Scoring for some reason or other was not good today, but with a goof net 70
Gordon White was today's winner, runner up was John Mason with a net 71. Jim
Samuel recoded the only 2 of the day.
Monday the 10th's team pairings are posted on the Team

Perfect
golfing weather, warm sunshine and a slight breeze, so why, one wonders was the
golf not perfect. considering the weather, only 2 members out of 38 managed a
score better than 35. John Ross with a fine 40 points was today's winner, runner
up was Robert Waite with 38 points. Ian Melrose and John Ross shared the 2's
pot.

The Mallards
played their final match of the season against the Kirkcudbright Seniors at
Kirkcudbright. A comfortable win by 4 games to two made it a good season for the
Mallards winning 5 of their eight matches, A nice change to end the season on a
high.
Monday 10th September 2007
A very cool
start to the day, but warmed up nicely by noon, so the later starters got the
better of the day. 12 teams entered today's Texas Scramble and some remarkable
scores were returned, an excellent net 63.9 was good enough for the team of
Francis Fitzpatrick, Rob Woodland and Jim Lyndon, runners up today with a net
67.9, were David Slater, Allan Benson & Ray Arthurs.
Thursday 13th September 2007
A rather low
turnout today, just 25 members turning up to play in today's medal, judging by
the high scoring maybe those that decided not to play knew something the rest of
us didn't. Apart from a strong wind blowing, conditions were very good. Alan
Nixon with a net 69 was today's winner, runner up with a net 70 was David
Slater. David Dalglish recorded the only 2 of the day.
Monday 17th September 2007
A good turn
out by members, 38 taking part in today's stableford competition despite the
cold blustery conditions. John Mason returned an excellent 40 points to take
first place. Ian Melrose was today's runner up. Just the one 2 recorded today.
Members are reminded to help avoid slow play, in
particular when a member hits his ball into the trees it would be appreciated if
the other members of the group could play forward then help their playing
partner find his ball. It just helps speed play along.
Thursday 20th September 2007
A
disappointing turn out today by member, this being the final medal eclectic.
Just possible the forecast for the day caused a few cancellations but as it
turned out it stayed dry for the afternoon, but one heck of a gale blew. This
was reflected in the high scores. Ernie Henderson was today's big winner with at
net 74. Ray Arthurs also on 74 lost out on a card play off to take second place.
Gordon Milne had the only 2 of the day.
Monday 24th September 2007
The day set
off very well but deteriorated as the morning progressed, the later starts
getting the worst of the weather. Regardless some good scores were returned, Jim
Cruddas with a fine 40 points including a 2 was today's winner, Jim's first win
this season. Gordon Milne with 37 points was runner up. John McAleer also
recorded a 2 today.
